This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and clinically strong Ward Manager to lead a women’s mental health ward within a specialist, secure‑to‑rehabilitation pathway. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, effective, compassionate care within a dynamic environment supporting women with Personality Disorder, Mental Illness, and Mild to Moderate Learning Disabilities.
Working closely with the MDT and senior clinical leadership, you will drive high standards of practice, operational excellence, and patient‑centred care — all within a service grounded in recovery, dignity, empowerment, and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
🌟 Leadership & Clinical Excellence
- Provide visible, confident leadership to the nursing team, ensuring high‑quality care at all times.
- Oversee day‑to‑day ward operations, ensuring internal and external compliance is met.
- Promote safe, ethical, rights‑respecting practice, ensuring all care adheres to legislation and governance frameworks.
🌟 Patient‑Centred Care
- Build therapeutic, trauma‑informed relationships that support meaningful engagement.
- Contribute to assessments, risk formulations, and individualised care plans.
- Monitor and review patient progress, ensuring care remains recovery‑focused and needs‑led.
🌟 MDT Partnership
- Work collaboratively with psychologists, OTs, psychiatrists, social workers, and therapy teams to deliver holistic treatment.
- Maintain strong communication channels to support coordinated care and continuity.
🌟 Staff Development & Mentorship
- Mentor and support student nurses, junior staff, and new starters.
- Promote continuous learning, wellbeing, and development within the nursing team.
- Foster a positive, supportive culture aligned with organisational values.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- 1st Level Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
- Recognised Mentorship Qualification.
Essential Experience
- Experience in an inpatient mental health setting.
- Experience leading teams and responding to service needs.
- Experience in clinical risk management and care planning.

- Strong leadership and managerial capability.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Confident in dealing with conflict and supporting teams through challenges.
