We’re recruiting a Deputy Headteacher to support the leadership and ongoing development of a specialist education setting, working with pupils with complex learning difficulties and ASD.
Working in a small specialist school supporting up to 14 children with behavioural, emotional, and complex learning needs. The school provides a highly personalised, therapeutic, and child‑centred approach, with strong multi‑disciplinary working across education, care, and clinical teams.
The Deputy Headteacher will support the Headteacher in the strategic leadership, day‑to‑day management, and continuous improvement of the school, ensuring high‑quality teaching, learning, safeguarding, and compliance.
The role has a strong focus on:
- Leading high‑quality SEN practice
- Supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, and additional needs
- Driving standards, outcomes, and positive behaviour
- Supporting staff development and wellbeing

Knowledge & Experience
- Strong understanding of SEN provision, behaviour support, and inclusive education
- Experience supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, and additional needs
- Knowledge of curriculum adaptation for pupils with complex needs
- Experience working in small, specialist or therapeutic education settings (desirable)
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or FE Teaching Qualification – REQUIRED
- SEN Qualification – REQUIRED
- At least one year of proven, successful leadership and management experience within a school – REQUIRED
- Experience of working with pupils with complex learning difficulties and autism – REQUIRED
- Experience working with OFSTED and DfE / Estyn frameworks and applying standards in a school setting – REQUIRED
