The opportunity
Our client a specialist acute inpatient mental health service in Leicester is recruiting RMNs to support men and women who are in crisis and require emergency admission. Service users may be informal or detained under the Mental Health Act, and the ethos is to treat people in the least restrictive environment, with a strong focus on stabilisation and robust discharge planning.
The service offers 24-hour medical cover and accepts admissions 24/7, supporting a seamless pathway from referral through to discharge. The hospital accommodates up to 30 people across 3 floors and is rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The role
You’ll be part of a comprehensive MDT delivering short-term stabilisation, recovery-focused support, and therapeutic engagement to help individuals transition safely back into the community.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver acute mental health nursing care in a safe, stabilising environment
- Contribute to assessments, care planning, risk management and discharge planning
- Administer medication safely and monitor outcomes
- Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues (including psychology and medical teams)
- Maintain accurate records and effective shift handovers
- Ensure safeguarding and clinical governance standards are upheld
What you’ll need
- RMN qualification with active NMC registration
- Confidence working in acute/crisis presentations (or motivation to develop in this area)
- A calm, compassionate and professional approach
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to recovery-focused practice
